THE TEA CEREMONY

The Tea ceremony started in the 12th century, when the Japanese monks came back with the precious tea leaves, after a journey in the great monasteries in China
In the 16th century, Sen no Rikyu, great Master of Tea, widened access to the tea ceremony. Sen no Rikyu celebrated it in a small and rustic lodge with modest and discreet tools.
In the spirit of Zen Buddhism, the tea ceremony puts the emphasize on contemplation. The awe of nature and simple things beauty is a way to get rid of the daily life vulgarity. That way, a tea ceremony guest should contemplate everything that surrounds him.
It is all about reaching the spirituality sphere. Harmony, consideration, purity and peace of mind.

OUR VALUES

Four big principles

The tea ceremony’s four big principles, inspired by the Zen Buddhism, can be found in the core values of TENSAÏ TEA:
Harmony. The relationship harmony between the host and the guest gives meaning to the tea ceremony. TENSAÏ TEA should be a harmonious share where each one gives as much as he receives.
Consideration. Each attendee to the tea ceremony should treat people and objects that surrounds him with the best respect. TENSAÏ TEA harvests its tea leaves according to organic and sustainable farming.
Purity. This principle reminds that you need a pure heart, delivered from any pretention, to enjoy the ceremony, and more generally, all his surroundings.
Peace of mind. The peace of mind state can only be reached once the three other principles are achieved. TENSAÏ TEA allows to live intensely the tea ceremony and to reach absolute peace of mind.
